Apple’s AirPods were first released in 2016. Since then, they’ve become extremely popular across the globe. Using Google search trend data, SearchPods is a visual representation of the popularity of AirPods both globally and since their first release. Design created from data using Processing and Adobe Illustrator.

Beyond Estée

Beyond Estée is an app which communicates Estée Lauder’s sustainable sourcing practices. It enables users to scan their products and learn about the story behind its main ingredients. We implemented Google Vision API to identify products and Maps API to display the locations of its ingredients. Created for the Estée Lauder Companies Hackathon.

Estée on the Fly

Estée on the Fly is a mobile app to capture the travel retail market through promotion of customizable sample packages. When traveling, people may be unable to bring their makeup due to liquid restrictions. Many people also want to try new products without purchasing the full size. Estée on the Fly caters to both populations through a disruptive experiential retail journey. Created for the Estée Lauder Companies Hackathon.

Översätt

The Översätt Translator is an imaginary invention intended to recover lost languages. There are about 7,000 languages in the world, and it’s expected that by the end of the century nearly half will become extinct, equating nearly a language lost every 14 days. The Översätt solves this problem by absorbing and retrieving lost languages from its inanimate surroundings. This Ikea-style manual illustrates how the Översätt functions.

Luxury goods have become increasingly apparent in our society. Especially in America, there is a heavy consumer culture. Yet, with the modernization of fashion and luxury brands, how has the perception of the most prestigious brands changed within the past few years? Looking at the fashion shows of three top luxury brands, I analyzed viewer comments on over 250 videos and mapped them to major company news to gauge how consumer sentiment has evolved.

TikTok has been on the uprise in recent months and is especially popular amongst children under age 13, but the social media platform wants to expand its appeal amongst adults. We surveyed 400+ people ages 10 to 50+ to gauge consumer understanding of TikTok, create brand association maps, and determine general social media preferences.

Spotify Streams

We were interested in exploring the relationship between “economic distance” and shared popular songs at the country-level. We analyzed Spotify daily rankings of the top 200 most listened to songs in 53 countries in 2017 and 2018, which consisted of processing a database with over 2 million rows using SQL and VBA.

Sex vs Self-Love: Lingerie Retail Analysis

In the past few years, Victoria’s Secret’s comparable sales have been decreasing, while new competitor Aerie’s sales continue to rise in the double digits. To understand why, we explored the differences between each retailer’s strategies, conducting store walks and analyzing unique features including their customers and store layout, as well as their advertising campaigns and brand image. We then analyzed both retailers’ financial statements and correlated changes in data with shifts in consumer preferences.

We wanted to investigate how Airbnb can promote diversity and mitigate potential discrimination among its users by applying machine learning and anti-bias training. We spoke to Airbnb hosts, guests, employees, and executives, as well as technical and industry experts in order to determine how Airbnb can better integrate technology trends into its platform.

GLOCO
glove control

Inspired by a glove that is used to train the hand after injury or surgery, we developed our own glove that allows the user to control a digital space. Created using Arduino and ThingSpeak (an open IoT platform), and coded in C++.

Armoire

A digital closet to track what clothes you have, what outfits you’ve worn, and what combinations you’ve yet to try. Armoire allows a user to sift through their closet via a variety of preset filters. My very first app, created in MIT App Inventor.

Candid Beauty

Candid Beauty is a startup aiming to address the lack of transparency in the beauty industry. Candid Beauty’s app is a platform enabling users to receive tailored recommendations from user reviews, share their own opinions, and join a trustworthy community.
